Construction Advisory

August 18, 2017

Various construction-related tasks will take place on Saturday, August 19th, including a concrete pour. This operation will require 3 concrete trucks. The construction hours will comply with the approved Saturday schedule.

Regarding the completed houses: We are happy to be completing the first houses in the project and for new households to be joining you as neighbors. These houses are still part of a construction site, which will continue to have conditions which are unsafe for the public until the project is completed. Therefore, we respectfully request that the public observe the new California Avenue sidewalk as a construction boundary until the project is completed, and that the public also please refrain from going onto private lots and looking into the windows and yards of the houses.

The site access has changed with the addition of new occupants:

  • The Columbia Gate is for new home owners and their guests. In compliance with the City of Palo Alto approved Occupancy Logistics Plan, deliveries for the multi-family building using large trucks can use the Columbia Street entrance, provided these vehicles are flagged from the corner of California Avenue and Columbia Street to behind the construction gate to the multi-family buildings. Assigned flaggers handle the operations at Columbia Street to ensure compliance with the established standards.
  • The Bowdoin Gate is the main point of entry for construction vehicles and deliveries.
  • The Amherst Gate is opened and flagged for specific tasks, including: recycled water delivery, concrete pours and any major dirt off-haul. Other than standard recycled water deliveries, all concrete pours and dirt off-haul operations are indicated in the specific weekly update in which they occur.

Lower site activities will soon be completed and upper site concrete and framing work has begun. This shift in operations will require an increased quantity of workers and vehicles entering the site. We have a full time site coordinator and flagger to handle the vehicles and areas on site designated for worker parking.
